"The Hawk Mountain Line"

Established in 1963, the WK&S is located in the scenic village of Kempton, Pennsylvania which is in Berks County. We are also known as the "Hawk Mountain Line" because of our proximity to the famous bird sanctuary.  Our quiet, rural setting adds to the quaint old-time atmosphere that appeals to families and children of all ages.

Join us weekends from May through October for a ride back in time when railroads were "king."  The WK&S offers special events throughout the season including the popular December season finale Santa Claus Special.

We also offer private charters, caboose rentals, and group rates.  Would you like to rent a caboose for a birthday party? Are you getting married or renewing your vows and want a unique way to celebrate. Check our CHARTERS page for further information - a variety of options and prices are available to fit your group size and budget!

The WK&S holds educational school trips on two Fridays in May.  So if you are a teacher or school administrator please contact us for more information.

There is something for everyone to enjoy.  We have a very unique range of vintage locomotives to supply power, and a variety of rolling stock. See our  Equipment page for more details.  The station facilities include a large free parking area, a gift shop with many railroad-related items, refreshment stand, waiting room, restrooms, and a large picnic area. Large grassy areas provide for the kids to run.  On Sundays, the Schuykill & Lehigh Model Railroad Club's HO model train display is also open to the public.

Come visit with the Easter Bunny and take ride on the train
with the Easter Peeps.  Enter our Jellybean Counting contest.
Train departures at 1,2,3,& 4pm each day.
